A blood drive, in coordination with Community Blood Center  will be held this weekend, in memory of Blake Cazier. You can do your part to help out by going to the Keller Williams parking lot at 26410 SW Wanamaker Road from 10a to 5p this Sunday (April 9, 2017). The event helps bring awareness to the importance of maintaining adequate blood-supply levels in the community for patients like Blake – who require blood transfusions – in order to help fight blood cancers. A fundraising booth will be set up in Blake’s memory to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, donations of any size will be accepted and interested participants can sign-up for this year’s LLS Walk for Team Blake . Jaclyn Cazier, Blake’s mom, will attend the drive to thank donors.

David Graham, Executive Director of the Community Blood Center  is encouraged by the recent show of support for team Blake;

“Cancer patients, trauma victims, new mothers, and hospitals depend on a consistent blood supply. Donors can help give others like Blake, that fighting chance. But in order to make this difference, we need the community to roll up their sleeves and donate blood.”

You should schedule appointments for the drive here and enter sponsor code: teamblake. You can find more on Team Blake at their Facebook page.

To meet patients’ need for blood and blood components, CBC requires approximately 580 donors every weekday. About one in seven hospital admissions requires a blood transfusion, and with a limited shelf life, supplies must be continually replenished.
