This Week Inside The Vortx – Punk Rock

God Save The Queen

This week the Vortx went through a bit of a change. Last week it is was a metal machine and this week it seems to be spitting out punk rock. It’ll offer up some double shots of your favorite punk rock hits from The Offspring, Green Day and The Clash as well as sprinkle in some other familiar punk rock tunes.

The Offspring released their self-titled album way back in 1988. That album is just one of nine that they have released thus far. The band is credited for reviving mainstream popularity in the 90s along with Green Day, Bad Religion and more. The Offspring has been working on album number ten since 2013 while releasing a single here and there. They are currently recording in the studio and the new album is set to be released later this year, but don’t get your hopes up.

Green Day has been around since 1986. When the band started out they were not well known, but that didn’t last long. They developed a fan base after the release of a couple albums and then they hit the world by storm with their major label debut, Dookiein 1994. Since then the band has had nothing but success. They’ve released 12 records, created one broadway musical, had their own video game and are in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. Just last year they released Revolution Radio and are currently touring the world. Don’t forget to grab your tickets to see them on August 11th in Kansas City. They put on one hell of a show.

The Clash is an English band that formed in 1976. They released six albums while they were active including Combat Rock which introduced the smash hit “Rock the Casbah.” That song helped the record go platinum twice. The band was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame back in March of 2003. Rolling Stone ranked The Clash 28 out of 100 on their greatest of all time list in 2004. Be sure to listen in on Sunday for a double shot from these guys and Ethan will ask the question “Should I Stay Or Should I Go?

This week we’ll spin Punk Rock from the Ramones, Sex Pistols, Bad Religion and brand new Blink-182 lined up for ya.
