This week the VORTX is in the holiday spirit. Sunday is Mother’s Day and to celebrate the occasion, we’ll be listening to the sweet sounds of women in the Rock world!

Lacey Sturm has been a powerhouse in the rock world since 2002. You may not recognize her name, but she is the former lead singer of a little band called Flyleaf. Lacy left Flyleaf in 2012 and has since released a solo album, two books and she is currently preparing to release her third. You can catch Lacy on tour this summer with Shinedown!

Lzzy Hale took the world by storm back in 2009 when her band Halesorm released their first record. Since the band started out they’ve done numerous tours with bands like Shinedown, Skillet, Papa Roach, Stone Sour and the list goes on in on. They’ve released three full length albums as well as three cover eps, all of which are available on iTunes.

Joan Jett. Nuff said.
