GHOST and Iron Maiden Take Over Kansas City

Last night (July 11th) Iron Maiden and Ghost hit the stage for an epic night of rock and metal at the Sprint Center in downtown Kansas City.

Iron Maiden showed up and showed out as they always do. The band performed hits like “The Trooper,” “Blood Brothers,” and “Number of the Beast” as well as songs off of their latest effort, The Book of Souls. After all, it is the Book of Souls World Tour. The whole show was themed by that record from the intro, the pyro and the stage set up. It really made you feel like you were engulfed in the Mayan culture. The stage design also looked like something out of the popular mobile game, Temple Run. Maiden performed a total of fifteen songs which left some fans; mainly Sloan, yelling for more.

On this portion of the tour the Maiden guys decided to bring along the Swedish metal band GHOST to open up the show. These guys bring such an amazingly theatrical show every time they perform. The band is of course depicted as a satanic group led by the lead singer Papa Emeritus III, a satanic priest. The other members of the band are known as the Nameless Ghouls because they have not revealed their true identity. The band opened up their set with hits “Square Hammer” and “From the Pinnacle to The Pit” and it really got the crowd going. They played eight songs total and received a standing ovation at the end of the performance. That may not be a surprise to some, but Iron Maiden fans are known for coming to the show for Maiden only and being hard on the opening act. That was not the case last night.
