This afternoon we recieved the news that we are tired of hearing. Another lead singer has taken his life.CNN reports Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park, was found dead this morning according to a a spokesman from the LA County Coroner’s office.
CNN states that “The coroner’s office was called out to a home in Palos Verdes Estates shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday. Authorities said they were treating the case as a possible suicide.”
It is reported that Chester committed suicide by hanging.
In an interview with The Guardian in 2011 Bennington discussed the abuse that he went through as a child including being beaten and “pretty much raped.”
This news comes just a couple months after Chris Cornel took his own life. Today would have been Chris’ birthday. Chris and Chester were close. It was even reported that Chester performed Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” at Cornell’s memorial service.
Today Chester’s family, bandmates and the rock and entertainment community mourn his loss. We have not recieved a statement from the band at this time, but we are told that it is coming. We’ll keep you updated as more information pours in.
See some of the reactions from bandmates, fellow rockstars and more below.
Shocked and heartbroken, but it's true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.
