After being fired from Metallica, guitarist Dave Mustaine forms Megadeth in Los Angeles. In May they release their debut album “Killing Is My Business… and Business Is Good!” on Combat Records.

The Live Aid concert for famine relief is held simultaneously in London and Philadelphia and broadcast live worldwide and features reunions of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath.

Organized by Neil young and John Mellencamp, the first annual Farm Aid benefit concert is held to benefit American Farmers.
