Topeka’s own NAHL Hockey Team, The Topeka Roadrunners, will kick off their 2017/18 season with home games on Friday and Saturday night, Sept 15 and Sept 16, in Landon Arena to face off with the Corpus Christi IceRays. As we are ready to start the season, our hearts are with those who have, and are currently being affected by the hurricanes hitting Texas, Florida, and surrounding areas. The Kansas Expocentre and The Topeka Roadrunners are teaming up with the American Red Cross to help out the victims of these terrible tragedies.
” Topeka has always been a city that has shown tremendous character and charity in the face of adversity,” said RoadRunners Team President Donald Stone III. “We are pleased to provide our fans the opportunity to help the victims of what is turning into a potentially devastating hurricane season”
The Kansas Expocentre and Topeka Roadrunners will each be donating a dollar for every single-game ticket purchased to either Friday or Saturday’s game. The $2 donation from each ticket will go directly to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief. The organization has been sending volunteers down in large groups to assist those who have been hit by the hurricanes’ destruction in Texas, Louisiana and Florida.
Tickets to the first home hockey games of the season can be found on Ticketmaster or at the Kansas Expocentre Box Office, and will go on-sale Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 10AM. Adult tickets start at $10, and kids tickets start at only $6. Doors open at 6:05, and the puck drops are 7:05 both nights. The Party Zone, Suite Rental, and Group Tickets are also available. You can find more information at KSExpo.com or TopekaRoadrunners.com.
