SCP+R Introduce Community’s First Outdoor Fitness Equipment

Shawnee County Parks + Recreation will introduce the community’s first outdoor fitness equipment and multiple other improvements to Hillcrest Community Park.At 12:30 pm on Saturday March 24th Shawnee County Parks + Recreation will introduce new projects and improvements! On hand will be representatives of the Central Highland Park Neighborhood Improvement Association which secured the grant to purchase the fitness equipment. Speakers include:

• John Knight, SCP+R director

• Kevin Cook, Shawnee County commissioner

Improvements to the park include the outdoor fitness equipment, new playground equipment, the planned conversion of a tennis court to fusbal (soccer-like game) court, improvements to the pool including the addition of a sound system, shade structures that will provide an additional 40 feet of shade, new benches, a canoe slide to replace the old frog slide and a new Aqua Zip’n feature that replaces the old tube slide. The building has a new pump house and chemical room, new concrete entryway and new doors all around. New security lighting has been added to the parking lot and new LED lights have replaced the old gymnasium lights. ##
