Are you a fan of movies? Check this out!

Recently, the Washburn University Mass Media department announced that they have established the Washburn International Film Institute and along with that, the first annual WiFi Film Festival. The reason for the festival is to not only give students a place to showcase their work, but to also give the community a chance to see films that were made internationally or across the country by professionals and students alike. This year the festival will run from April 11th to the 13th and will be held at locations on Washburn’s campus.

The festival’s featured film is a documentary about DACA and immigration being directed by Allan Holzman an Emmy Award winning filmmaker from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. Holzman will be present at the festival and is doing a late-night discussion about the film. Another film being featured at the festival is called “#TAKEMEANYWHERE” and was produced, directed by and stars Shia LaBeouf, who previously starred in the Transformers franchise. WiFi will also highlight projects completed by current and former students, which includes a film or two by Ethan Jackson from V100.

This festival is a great way for you to see what local and international filmmakers are doing and have conversations with them about their work. To find out more about the festival or to submit your film, just click here.
