The Topeka-based Payless ShoeSource, Inc. will reportedly close all 2300 locations after they file their second bankruptcy in as many years. They are another recognized brand to struggle at their brick-n-mortar stores in the past year, along with Toys-R-Us. The Reuters news article, published today (2/14/19) reports that sources close to the matter say the company was hoping on a buyer, but that has not transpired. As a result, the article says the company has “decided to initiate preparations to liquidate”..

Back in January, The Topeka Capital-Journal reported that a scheduled auction for the former headquarters of the retailer was suddenly ended. Less than a week ago, on Feb 8, CNBC said that Payless was preparing for a second bankruptcy filing.
